Special Announcement – After Mass tomorrow, Sun Apr 29, 2012

All parishioners and friends are asked to attend Mass this Sunday, April 29th at 10 AM. An important letter from Bishop Kmiec will be read. For those unable to attend, please remember to keep St. Ann’s in your prayers.

Glorious Saint Ann—filled with compassion for those who invoke thee—and with love for those who suffer—heavily laden with the weigh of my troubles—I cast myself at they feet—and humbly beg of thee—to take my present need—lovingly under thy care.—Vouchsafe to commend it to thy daughter—Our Mother—the Blessed Virgin Mary—and to lay my petition—before the throne of Jesus.—Cease not to intercede for me—until my request is granted.—Above all things—obtain for me the grace—of one day beholding my God face to face—with thee and Mary and all the Saints—praising and blessing Him—for all eternity.

Santa Anna, Ora Pro Nobis!

Amen.

Holy Thursday 2012, Last Supper of Jesus Christ

Today is Holy Thursday, Maundy Thursday, the first day of the Easter Triduum.

Come to St. Ann’s Church & Shine for Mass of the Lord’s Supper, beginning at 7pm.  Doors will be open until midnight to visit Him in the Altar of Repose.

A reflection on Maundy Thursday…

What is Maundy Thursday?  At his Last Supper, Jesus Christ gave us a mandatum (maundy), or a commandment–to love one another.

mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos ut et vos diligatis invicem

(John 13:24 Vulgate)

A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you,

that you also love one another. (John 13:24 DR)

…Events celebrated on this day include: (1) the eating of the Easter lamb or the paschal meal; (2) the washing of the disciple’s feet; (3) the institution of the Most Holy Eucharist; (4) Institution of the priesthood, the first conferring of Holy Orders; (5) the foretelling of Judas’ betrayal and Peter’s denials; (6) the farewell discourse and priestly prayer of Jesus; (7) the agony and capture of Jesus in the Garden of Olives.
